Quick Update....

I thought when I started this blog, I would be able to write everyday! Boy was I wrong, wrong, wrong! Anyway, my baby girl turned 7 today. Seven. SEVEN. Where do the years go? That's only 3 away from 10, double digits. I. am. not. ready. However, I don't get to choose that now do I? So we will enjoy the next years that lie ahead of us! I have been so very blessed, God gave us 3 healthy children. Virginia Rae got three new 'pets' today! Our dear friend from church, gave her 2 Silkie hens and 1 Silkie rooster. We love our chickens, just not the hawks that keep getting them :( This spring, more chickens are on the list. I hope to get several big laying hens, and some more bantams. We love the little ones, the kids love carrying them around and petting on them. I enjoy getting the little colored eggs from them! I tried a new bread recipe this week, Milk and Honey, I loved it. However, our bees died this winter, rats moved in, bees died out. The recipe takes 1/2 cup honey, I am being a little stingy with my honey until we get more bees!!

Sorry it's been so long...

Okay, so I didn't do so well with the "keeping up with blogging" idea! Instagram came along, and well...need I say more? So we have been quite busy lately...Farmlife is not a sit on your 'hiney' life! Our garden is growing quite nicely with all this rain we have been blessed with. We should have our first squash this week, we have had three tomatoes, no one tasted because girdlemcgee ate them on the way to the house :), and two green peppers, which were supposed to be yellow. Hey, at least they grew! Our chickens, well, they are getting on my nerves... I love them, but they aren't laying like they are supposed to be...well, not like I think they should be! Who am I to judge, it HOT out there, not sure I'd want to be laying an egg either! So in other news, I have a booth at the farmer's market, with my sister, who sells her homemade lye soap. I have been busy sewing away! I have sold a few things to some friendly customers on IG, and a few things at the market. Now, its time to step out there and open an Etsy shop. There, I said it and now I'm gonna do it! Tomorrow Soon! I have to work out the details, like how to customize your heading and all that jazz. I will have all sorts of things there, key fobs, Kleenex holders, mason jar cozy, pillowcase dresses, girls hair bows, headbands, aprons, and lots of other things to come. My shop name will be.... girdlemcgee. When Virginia Rae was little, I called her 'gert', and William started calling her 'girdle', so then he later added McGee to it and it kinda stuck. So, I will name the shop after her. It will be girdlemcgee from Heritage Family Farm, I think.

My Big Little Boy

My sweet little Jeremiah, who said he was NEVER going to pee n the potty....has been the easiest of the three! Once I told him there were no more 'britches', I asked him what we were going to do and he said, "let's go buy more mommy". When I said no, he looked real hard at me and just sat there thinking. Then... When I put him on some 'big boy pants' just like daddy and William...he hasn't looked back yet!! I'm so very proud of you Jeremiah, but no matter what you say, you will always be my baby boy!! I love you!

Welcome 2012...

Goodbye 2011...welcome 2012!

So many things to talk about, I haven't a clue where to start...2011 was quite eventful, many that I don't want to repeat! A few that we're so exciting that we are still reeping the benefits...

Through much prayer, we started a new church, in a garage! Later bought our old building back and are now having church in the church building I grew up in...it feels great to be home again!! Our children love going to church and can't wait to go back. Every time we pass by they ask if we are going to church! We now have a pastor. We are slowly getting started, we were able to have VBS and have started Sunday School, and now Mission Friends and Kids in Action. Needless to say, it is very fulfilling!!

As you all know, daddy had a major heart attack in November. He was told by the Doctor, that God just isn't finished with him yet! I am so very thankful that God decided to keep my Daddy here with us for a while longer. We were able to enjoy him being home from work during Christmas! He stayed home for a month, keeping the fire in the fire pit going the whole time! We spent many an hour at that pit this December. Making memories to add to our already priceless memories.

2012 brings many exciting opportunities for our family...

Daddy retiring????? No one knows but him.

William will move into Boy Scouts this February. Big deal, very big deal...not sure who its bigger for, him or myself! With Boy Scouts comes boy scout camp...a week away...in Rutherfordton, NC, without me, with a bunch of people I don't know...oh my! I should stop now before I hyperventilate!!!

Virginia Rae is in kindergarten. She loves to learn everyday. She is also taking ballet and tap lessons. She loves dance class and can't wait to go back from week to week. She is now getting ready for recital in June.

Jeremiah is a busy little fellow! He loves to be two steps behind his daddy. He loves anything boy, and sometimes anything girl...I keep catching Virginia Rae putting make up and princess dresses on him!! She really wants a sister too!! He is starting to love Thomas trains, he likes to pour out the tote in the living room and play play play...

.God blessed us beyond what we could ever imagine in 2011, I can't wait to see what he has in store for us in 2012...I wish you the best in 2012!!

Still trying to learn more about instagram, pics to come soon!!
